Torsa - High Proximity Collision Avoidance

TORSA’s high-precision proximity warning system for Excavators is based on LIDAR technology. This system analyses the interaction between vehicles and the excavator itself with 0.100mm of precision, ensuring safe loading operations.

The system's objective is to inform the machine operator about the type, position, and distance of the various vehicles and obstacles around them. Through a simple interface, the excavator operator is informed of all vehicles and obstacles around him, in a non-invasive way, alerting him acoustically and visually, only in the event of a real risk of collision, which makes the system an effective tool for risk reduction in loading operations.

Thanks to the system's centimetre-level accuracy, the operator is informed about the suitability of the loading distance or if they are potentially at risk of collision. This drastically reduces the risk of the excavator colliding with other vehicles and the mining face.

Like all TORSA solutions, the high-precision proximity warning system is integrated into the TORSA Cloud environment, ensuring proper interaction, operation, and technical information management for all our customers.

TORSA collaborates closely with the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), where the company is involved in the Innovation for Safer, Zero-Emission Vehicles (ICSV) Programme. This programme brings together 27 of the world's leading mining and technology suppliers to collaborate in a non-competitive space with the aim of accelerating the development of a new generation of mining technology and vehicles.

Our anti-collision system is designed to operate at control levels 7, 8, and 9, following the safety guidelines and requirements established under the ICMM ICSV program, following the definitions of EMESRT (the international body that establishes safety guidelines for mining equipment).
